Welcome to Willow Class!

Welcome back to our new Autumn Term in Willow Class. This term is another very busy one full of lots of learning opportunities.

The second half of our term will be when we get to go to Forest school exploring our senses and a cross curricular link to the Anglo Saxons a topic in history which will be starting to study.

English this term will begin with a very exciting book called The Firework Maker’s Daughter by Phillip Pullman.

Maths will be developing our skills in Addition and Subtraction, working towards the formal written methods, before learning about Area and then Multiplication and Division on the lead up to Christmas.

Learning about L S Lowry will be our Art focus before moving onto paper circuit switches in DT after half term tying in quite nicely for making our own Christmas cards.

Science this term will be all about Electricity and then moving on to Sound after half term.

Mrs Butcher will continue to develop the children’s musicality and Sikhism will be the focus in her RE lessons.

Homework

Thank you for all of you who support your children with their weekly homework. I am aware of how precious time is which is the reason why I do not set a lot of homework. Your children absolutely need to be reading every single day – it is a life skill – and they should be recording themselves reading fluently three times a week. The maths homework I set is always linked to our maths topic in school and ensure children have time to practise and become more fluent in maths.
